P.A.C.E and Axiom IT Solutions Team up for Youth Fitness (2009)
P.A.C.E. stands for Promoting Active Children Everywhere which is a program to help get kids physically active and learning about new places. Its website (www.pacetrek.com) helps the participating schools to track and follow Paul Staso as he runs across different lands. He has run across America, the state of Montana and will be running across Alaska in the “Adventure in Alaska” run. With each run he has challenged the youths across the globe to run the same distance as he does, the only difference is they do it virtually. Youths are encouraged to create teams. Each team then attempts to accumulate the same amount of miles that Paul runs in each adventure as a team, by acquiring running and walking mileage at school and through extracurricular sports.
With the first two runs team reported their mileages each week by e-mail and then they were posted on the specific runs website. In 2009, AXIOM IT Solutions, Inc. (www.axiom4.com) donated the programming and integration of a team leader login section and team listings of that web site so that teams will be able to post their current mileage totals at any time during the trek.
To date P.A.C.E. has 169 teams registered from 7 countries, totaling 16,891 students.
AXIOM and P.A.C.E believe it is important to keep the youth of the world active in everyday life. AXIOM was excited to be able to assist this non-profit organization in promoting health awareness.
